Tampa 5k, Races and Runs – Outdoor Fun in Fall
November is the time for Tampa 5k events, races, runs. The weather is perfect, not too hot and not too chilly. The weather provides for mud runs, color runs and now zombie runs. Races, runs and 5k events are a great way to explore the natural side of Tampa Bay. It is a great time spent with friends and a good way to focus your workouts with an end goal, and they are fun.
Tampa 5k, Races and Runs :
Buddy Run 5K is set for November 1, 2015. Located in Lutz and will be run on packed shale and unpaved exercise path. Events will consist of 5K, 1 Mile and Buddy Run for athletes with special needs and their buddies. This feel-good run benefits Buddy Baseball and Beth Am. FREE to $25 registration.
Set for Friday, November 6, 2015, at Ybor’s Centennial Park– Richard’s Run benefits research at the Moffitt Center. Moffitt Center is one of the largest cancer research hospitals and programs. To be particular, the race benefits Adolescent and Young Adult Program for sarcoma research and the Advanced Prostate Cancer Collaboration at Moffitt Cancer Center. Registration is $10-$30.

Bakas is one of the most unique runs, walks, trots in the Tampa Bay area. Bakas benefits the Bakas Equestrian Center and provides “horses for the handicapped”. This 5k trail will take you off road through the equestrian property and in the event it rains, the run will become a Mud Run. I think this race is a win-win for everyone involved! $25-$35 per registrant.
The Honeymoon Half in Dunedin is also known as the Race Thru Xanadu”, because the scenery is so peaceful. The Honeymoon Half benefits Friends of Honeymoon Island. Do not miss this run with a LIVE band concert waiting at the finish line, FREE beer and post-race gumbo. This race is a half marathon. $70-$90 per individual.
Walk, run or skip your way through 5 color zones where you will be covered in color. Color dance party after with DJ’s and giveaways. Wear white to get full-effect of the color run and bring your friends. Color Runs are more fun the more friends you bring. $15-$45 plus $5 parking per car.
This November 7th race benefits Organ, Tissue and transplantation programs. This race is close to my heart. My nephew was an organ donor and to know his sacrifice benefited 5 people was a honorable legacy he left behind. Be a part of Love Give Live 5K and give Life.

The Joshua 1:9 Freedom Run benefits christians who are persecuted every for their faith in the Middle East and Africa. Most of the people being helped have been displaced from Iraq and Syria this past year. You are invited to run, walk or stroll on Saturday, November 14th. Event is family-friendly so bring the kids and as many friends as you can bring. SpiritFM will be onsite broadcasting from the run and helping to MC the event. There will be collecting baby blankets, gloves and hats to ship to moms and families in the refugee camps. $25-$30.
Ronnie’s Run is a 5K chipped run and Family Event. Located at Fort DeSoto Park this run is fun, beautiful and can be an all day event. Why not run, swim, fish or grill the rest of the day? Fort DeSoto is beautiful. Cannot make it to the race? Ronnie’s also has a virtual race. Sign up, and run at home or in your spare time. $32.50-$38.50.
If your idea of a run is to arrive closer to mid-morning then walk/run/stumble from beer stand to beer stand, then the Brews Run is for you. No time-chips, stop-watches, you time yourself if you would like. This event is a family-friendly event all the way to the dog, because that is how St Pete rolls. Stay for the after party. Benefits early detection of breast cancer. $25-$50 per entry.
Just in case you did not get enough horror this Halloween you can run for your life from zombies in November. Fun fact, you can be a human or zombie. If you choose zombie you get makeup FREE and get to be part of the zombie horde. This fun interactive race is going to be fun. This race is not a certified 5K nor is it timed, but you will get a great workout running for your life. Held at Lake Park in Lutz, run fast, we hear banjoes. $15-$60 plus $5 parking.
