Be careful not to overlook the Dunedin Attractions since there is more than just Caladesi Island. There is shopping, dining and the arts– not to mention beautiful beaches and parks. Dunedin is like a small-batch of old-Florida fun all rolled up in a micro region between Clearwater and Tarpon Springs. Dunedin has everything every other city in Pinellas county has but with tons of charm. If you have not been to Dunedin in a while it is time to check it out again. If you have never been, whatcha waiting for?

8 Phenomenal Dunedin Attractions :

Caladesi Island/Honeymoon Island

One of the Popular Dunedin Attractions – Caladesi Island Beach

Caladesi Island is one of a few untouched barrier islands off the west coast of Florida. It has no houses or condos or hotels to take away from its beauty and is only reachable by ferry and boat. It shows how beautiful west coast Florida beaches are– especially when it is completely left to itself. Open all year and one of most popular of Dunedin Attractions.

The Orange Crate Cafe

349 A Main Street
Dunedin, Florida 34698

The Orange Crate Cafe is one of the most iconic cafes when it come to Dunedin Attractions, because it is literally a boxcar . The Orange Crate has great coffee, muffins, and is smack in the middle of downtown Dunedin. Loved by all, and photographed all the time, the Orange Crate is a delight. Note: if you are a cyclist, stop by for a cup of coffee and a Cliff Bar so you can ride all the way back home without bonking.

Dunedin Cup and Regatta Ball

The Dunedin Cup and Regatta Ball supports the scholarship program for the No Child Left on Shore program through the Dunedin Youth Sailing Association. The Regatta is in it’s 31st year and attracts people from everywhere. Do not miss it. Colorful, beautiful and exciting.

Pinellas Trail

The Pinellas Trail is one of the county’s favorite Dunedin attractions. It was started in the 1990’s with a national push to turn unused railroads into trails for the masses. I remember when it was built– I thought it would be a misuse of the taxpayers penny, but I was completely wrong. The Pinellas trail starts in the center of downtown St Petersburg and ends in Tarpon Springs. It is a whopping 38.2 miles one way! A unique feature is that the Pinellas Trail literally links riders from city center to city center, which is where Dunedin comes in.  A rider can ride from the downtown of St Pete to the downtown of Clearwater to the downtown city center of Dunedin to Tarpon Springs and back. There was talk a few years back about linking the trail to the Friendship Trail (old Gandy bridge linking St Pete and Tampa), but those plans were put on the back burner and the Friendship Bridge closed “for safety”. But, that is another saga in the St Pete-Tampa rivalry and for another article.

Dunedin Historical Society and Museum

349 Main Street
Dunedin, Florida 34698

The Dunedin Museum is home to over 2,000 artifacts, 2,500 photographs and a library containing 200 volumes of local and Florida history– including the museum library of Dunedin Times Newspaper from 1924 to 1965.

Dunedin Downtown Market

John L. Lawrence Pioneer Park
Main Street and Douglas Avenue
Dunedin, Florida 34698

Every Friday and Saturday morning (November to June), 9am until 2pm, Dunedin holds the Dunedin Downtown Market. At this market one can find food trucks, veggies, local food, live music and more. Do not miss their Mac n Cheese Cook-off or their Watermelon Eating Contest. Fun will be had for all.

Celtic Music and Craft Beer Festival 2015

Dunedin’s Highlander Park
Dunedin, Florida

What is not to love about a full-on Celtic Festival? There will be craft beer, food and the Red Hot Chili Pipers. The line-up also includes Mighty Fine Peppers, Leghorn, the Fighting Jamesons, Bawdy Boys and more. November 21, 2015 is the only day the festival will be held so you will want to grab your tickets now. They have already sold out of the early bird tickets.

Dunedin Golf & Country Club

1050 Palm Boulevard
Dunedin, Florida 34698

Dunedin Golf & Country Club is voted #1 in Pinelllas County by the  Clearwater and St Petersburg Visitor Bureau. From 1945-1962 Dunedin Golf was home to the PGA. One must be a member to play, but what a place to play. The clubhouse is gorgeous and the Fairway Grille hits the spot after a round of holes.
