When looking for things to do in Tampa, there are plenty of options that won’t break the bank. Whether you are looking to take in some of Tampa Bay’s extensive history, visit nostalgia at a drive-in theater, or just take in the sights– there are plenty of cheap things to do in Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay History Center

Open Daily from 10AM until 5PM, the Tampa Bay History Center hosts an extensive collection of artifacts ranging from ancient times to the current century. Parking is free with admission ($12.99 for adults), and be sure to stop by the gift shop for locally made products!

Ruskin Family Drive In

Want to watch a movie but the theater is too expensive? Take a step back in time and experience the family- friendly Ruskin Family Drive-in theater. Tickets are only $6 for adults, and it includes 2 back-to-back movies. Check their website for showtimes and be sure to arrive early– the drive-in fills up fast!

Splitsville

With 12 bowling lanes, 7 pool tables, and an outdoor boathouse bar, you have every reason to visit Splitsville. Open to the public Tuesday – Sunday (with Monday reserved for private parties only), lane rentals are only $3.50 per person per game. Make sure to stop by for happy hour for $3 drinks and cheeseburger sliders.

Tampa Theatre

Built in 1926, the Tampa Theatre is a shrine to the beauty of Florida and the arts. With movie showings and live concerts, there is always a reason to visit the theatre. Tickets range from $9-11, and guided tours of the balcony and backstage are also available for those who want to go behind-the-scenes.

Museum of Fine Arts

Sunken Gardens

Standing proudly in the Historic Old Northeast section of Saint Petersburg, this centennial garden is home to tropical plants and wildlife alike. Their hours are Monday-Friday 10AM – 4:30 PM and Sunday from noon until 4:30PM. Admission is only $10 for adults.

Ybor City Ghost Tour

Do you believe in ghosts? The Ybor City Ghost tour is the place to go, even if you don’t believe in the supernatural. On the 120 minute tour you will be guided through the history, people, and lore surrounding Ybor City and you might even have a haunting encounter. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children between the ages of 8 and 12.

Florida Holocaust Museum

Learn about the lives and struggles of those affected by the Holocaust in the vast Florida Holocaust Museum. Rotating exhibitions keep the museum ripe with new stories and recollections of the genocide, and tickets are only $16 (with discounts for students, seniors, and active military).

Armed Forces History Museum

Nestled in Largo just off Ulmerton Road, the Armed Forces History Museum gives an immersive experience into the lives of American soldiers throughout history. With life-size dioramas of the various wars and thousand of items to view, there is always something more to learn about the men and women who gave their lives for their country.
