Taco Bus

Yelp Review: 4 stars
913 E Hillsborough Ave / 505 N Franklin St / 5701 E Hillsborough Ave

With three locations, it is hard to have an excuse not to go to Taco Bus. Dedicated to serving authentic Mexican food with their fresh, authentic tortillas, overflowing burritos, and even vegan options (vegan steak fries anyone?) there’s something for everyone.

riddle on the griddle sandwich

Riddle on the Griddle

Yelp Review: 4.5 stars
138 E Lemon St.

A food truck dedicated to grilled cheese. There’s really nothing else to say after that, but I’m going to anyway. Riddle on the Griddle makes their own “Pony bread” which withstands the test of sogginess to maintain a crunch no matter how you have your cheese grilled. Not only that, but their methods call for “local, organically grown products whenever possible.”

pita at maggie on the move

Maggie on the Move

Yelp Review: 4.5 stars

Although lacking a technical address (wonder where the food truck is? Check out their schedule), you can generally find Maggie on the Move at Jims Harley Davidson at 2805 54th Ave N in St. Petersburg. This Mediterranean style food truck serves pita sandwiches, gyros, salads, and even a sweet baklava for dessert (you can choose between regular and bacon…mmm bacon).

Holy Hog BBQ in Tampa

If you have a hankering for bar-b-que, Holy Hog is the place for you. Their menu includes pulled pork, Texas style brisket, smoked chicken and more, with four sauces to choose from and a plethora of sides. There’s five locations to choose from, and some are full restaurants for those who want to have a proper sit-down meal.

Rennys Oki Doki Food Trucks in Tampa

Renny’s Oki Doki

Yelp Review: 3.5 stars

Although you will want to check their Twitter to find the most up-to-date location, the food selection is so good you can’t help but chase them down. Renny Braga, the owner, was raised on the island of Okinawa and is dedicated to serving the food he grew up on: hiyashi chuka soba (a noodle dish with vegetables and a protein), harumaki (crispy spring rolls), gyoza (pork or vegetable dumplings), and their specialty, soki soba (Okinawan noodles in hot broth topped with pork spareribs).

Hott Mess food trucks in tampa

Another food truck where you will want to check out their Facebook page to find them, Hott Mess prides themselves in their tater tots, ‘Hott dogs’ and platters. With their pink cheetah print and punk rock exterior, this food truck is hard to miss and deserving of their delicious attention.

Mr Cs Grilled Cheese sandwich

Mr. C’s Grilled Cheese

Yelp Review: 4.5 stars

Once again I will say, how can you go wrong with a grilled cheese food truck? Answer: you can’t. Especially with every sandwich being made on Texas toast (except the cypress, which comes on a multigrain bun). As one Facebook review puts it, “If you see this truck around & even if you’re full… Go grab a sandwich from here… It’s worth it.”

Waffles. Breakfast waffles, chicken and waffles, waffle sandwiches. For the Twisted Iron, waffle time is all the time. They have been serving waffles to the people of Tampa and beyond since 2014, and will keep on rolling for years to come. And don’t forget to swing by for Sunday brunch!

Yelp Review: 5 stars

Open regularly from 10AM-7PM (minus a small break around 1:30) on Saturdays and by announcement on their Facebook page, Brit’s Fish & Chips serves up a perfect classic from across the pond. They also serve popcorn shrimp, haddock, onion rings, and more if you’re looking for something other than the classic.

Nicos Arepas Grill in Tampa Florida

Yelp Review: 4 stars
8303 N Armenia Drive

If you want Venezuelan food, you need to go to Nico’s. Made fresh and even healthy, you will be happy that you tried their crunchy arepas. Or you can taste their pancake-like cachapas with gooey cheese. Even better, they’re open late on weekends for you to enjoy well into the night.
